Roger Atalay Harrison is a Turkish-Canadian architectural designer and artist, living in New York City. His work touches on themes of perception, ecology, community, and natural light. Born in Etobicoke, Ontario in 1986, the son of two engineers, he spent the summers of his youth traveling with his parents on long road trips as they developed telecommunications infrastructure in the farthest reaches of Canada's hinterlands. He obtained his BFA in painting and installation sculpture from Emily Carr University in Vancouver (2008), and MFA and M. Architecture from Parsons School of Design in New York City (2014). Over the years he has worked as a telecomm tower rigger, surveyor, draughtsman, tree planter, singer, musician, teacher, and designer. Atalay is currently serving his architecture apprenticeship in a boutique architecture and exhibition design firm, and is part time faculty at the New School University in Manhattan. Atalay has exhibited internationally and has had his work grace the pages of the Wall St Journal and the NY Times.
